about

Silva Film (silva, Latin: forest) is a place where films and their creators can flourish. We create a space where new ideas can be planted and grown in all their diversity and uniqueness; a space where we walk carefully, always with the intention of breaking new ground and leaving tracks.

“Because there are things in the woods that you could think about lying in the moss for years.” Franz Kafka

Silva Film, a production company based in Lübeck and Munich, develops, produces and co-produces feature and documentary films for the German and international market. We aim to both entertain and challenge our audience with these films. We want to create experiences that release us from their visual cosmos into a new reality with a new piece of consciousness.

We explore the boundaries of what film can or should be in order to find a common vision and to build long-lasting partnerships with our writers and directors.

Jana Kreissl, producer, was born in Munich in 1988. After numerous internships in the field of film and media, she completed her theatre, film and media studies in Vienna. Her desire to work as a filmmaker herself led her to the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB), where she studied film production from 2014 to 2020. Her first feature film “Das melancholische Mädchen” (Engl: “Aren’t you happy?” directed by Susanne Heinrich) won the Best Film Award at the Max Ophüls Film Festival, was nominated twice for the First Steps Award and was pre-selected for the German Film Prize.

Tobias Gaede, producer, was born in Arnstadt in 1988. He graduated with distinction from the German Physical Society (DPG), one of the largest physics societies in the world. Afterwards he worked for four years in various trades in film. In 2012 he started his production studies at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB) as a scholarship holder from the Studienwerk Villigst. His studies resulted in excellent productions in the fields of arthouse, documentary and digital short form films. After graduating in September 2018 he worked as a freelance producer on his own projects and for the production company zischlermann.

Since January 2020 Jana Kreissl and Tobias Gaede have been combining their passion and expertise for filmmaking in Silva Film. They are members of the Produzentenverband e.V. (Producers’ Association) and support the Schleswig-Holstein Declaration of the Many.
